Manipal Dental College Overview
Manipal Dental College is a private institution that came into being in 1965. It is a deemed college affiliated with the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE). The institute is an ISO-certified institute and is recognized by The Dental Council of India, The Malaysian Dental Council (since 2003), and the Kathmandu University, Nepal.
The National Assessment and Accreditation Council has awarded the college with NAAC Grade A++. Apart from BDS and MDS courses, the college also conducts various certificate courses on Oral Implantology, Aesthetic Dentistry, and Laser Dentistry. The institute provides state-of-the-art library facilities that have a wide collection of textbooks, reference books, articles, and various national and international journals. The computer section of the digital library gives access to various books and journals online. The library is Wi-Fi enabled and is also air-conditioned. It remains open on weekdays as well as on the weekends.
The campus of the dental college is centrally air-conditioned and the environment is very pleasant. The classrooms of the institution are equipped with proper audio and visual aids. Multimedia slide projectors are also placed in the classrooms. There is the facility of digital classrooms as well which promotes comprehensive learning and makes it easier for the students and the faculty members.
The laboratories are well-equipped with advanced types of equipment that lets the students refine their tactical and practical skills. For subjects like Anatomy, there are separate laboratories for storing specimens that make it interesting and easy for the students to learn from.
The hostels are appropriately furnished. The residents can opt for both AC and non-AC rooms as per their choices. Hot water facilities and clean drinking water facilities are available on all the floors of the hostels. The hostel rooms are comfortable and have common washrooms. Boys and girls have separate hostels and each hostel is supervised by a respective warden. Ragging is strictly prohibited inside the hostels as well as within the campus.
The college wants the students to participate in extra-curricular activities to ease and relax their minds and also to promote a healthy lifestyle. The college campus has built-in playgrounds for various sports activities such as cricket, volleyball, basketball, and football. There are facilities for indoor games such as chess, carrom, table tennis, and badminton. They also provide a well-built gymnasium for students to work out and be healthy. Girls and boys have separate trainers and timings. Separate changing rooms are also provided.
The campus has a medical facility to cater to any sort of emergency of the residents. They are available full-time.
